SDGs explained simply: 17 goals for taking action

SDGs explained simply: 17 goals for taking action

What is an SDG?

The Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, are 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations to respond to the major challenges of our time: poverty, health, education, equality, climate, biodiversity, peace and cooperation.

They may sound broad or far from everyday life. But they also concern our towns, schools, associations, families and daily choices.

Why the SDGs also matter for young people in France

Young people in France are directly affected by these issues. Access to quality education, mental health, inequalities, employment, the environment, civic participation and digital access are not abstract topics. They shape the way young people learn, move, express themselves, feel safe and imagine their future.

Through SDGenius, Association Petite Graine wants to make the SDGs simple, close and useful. The project is aimed at young people aged 16 to 30, especially those living in rural areas or facing fewer educational, civic or digital opportunities.

How SDGenius turns understanding into local action

SDGenius is an Erasmus+ project combining online learning, educational resources, workshops, a digital campaign and youth participation. Its goal is not only to explain the SDGs, but to help young people understand how these goals can become concrete ideas in their own territory.

Through the project, participants will be able to:

  • discover the 17 SDGs with simple examples;
  • connect global challenges to local realities;
  • develop communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills;
  • reflect on possible actions in their school, town, association or online;
  • access resources through the SDGenius learning platform.

Sustainable development is not only for institutions or experts. It also starts when young people ask questions, share ideas, learn together and gradually take action.
